Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank Limited has taken a significant step toward promoting inclusive banking by organizing a financial literacy and signature training program aimed at providing banking access to visually impaired individuals. The program, conducted in collaboration with Sarwodaya, included a two-day workshop designed to enhance financial literacy among participants.
During the program, Sushil Poudel, Head of Branding and CSR at the bank, provided participants with training on various financial topics, including the importance of savings, personal and family budgeting, financial discipline, goal setting, future investment opportunities, digital transactions, and digital fraud prevention. Special emphasis was given to signature training, with practical exercises aimed at boosting participants’ confidence in performing banking transactions independently. The bank believes this training will make banking processes more accessible and user-friendly for visually impaired individuals.
The program saw the participation of 40 visually impaired individuals. Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank affirmed its commitment to promoting inclusive banking by continuing to conduct financial awareness and empowerment programs targeting diverse communities in the future.
Speaking at the event, Yubaraj Wagle, President of Sarwodaya, expressed appreciation for the bank’s initiative and signature training for the visually impaired, describing the financial literacy program as both useful and effective. Sarwodaya’s Saugat Wagle, who is also visually impaired, shared that he is able to use banking services safely and independently, just like any other individual.
As part of its inclusive banking efforts, Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank has launched the “Swabhiman Savings Account” specifically for visually impaired customers. Account holders can access services such as mobile banking and ATM cards without the need for any additional documents or witnesses due to visual impairment. Furthermore, account operation guidelines are also made available in Braille.
At the conclusion of the program, Sushil Poudel reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to making future training sessions even more impactful, aiming to empower visually impaired individuals toward self-reliance and smooth banking practices. The bank believes that these initiatives will not only improve financial accessibility but also boost confidence and promote social inclusion.
